The polls on election day will be open from 6:00am – 7:00pm.

Important Dates

The Voter Registration Deadline for the June Primary: Tuesday, May 31, 2022.

  • At Registrar's Office - 5:00pm  *Check operating hours for DMV or other state designated voter registration agencies authorized to receive voter registration applications.
  • By mail - Postmarked by May 31, 2022.
  • Online Registration via Virginia Department of Elections website - 11:59pm  *Applications that are required to be printed and delivered to the registrar should be treated as regular mailed in applications (postmarked by May 31, 2022). The May 31st, 5:00pm deadline would apply if they are submitted in-person at the Registrar's Office. 

In Person Absentee Voting Starts: Friday, May 6, 2022 8:30am - 4:30pm

Absentee Voting: May 6 – June 18: Monday through Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm except on May 30th and on Saturday, June 11 from 8:30am to 4:30pm / June 18 from 8:30am to 5:00pm 

The last day to vote in person Absentee: Saturday, June 18, 2022, 8:30am - 5:00pm 

Requested absentee ballots for the June 21st Primary will start to go out May 5th.
The last day to request a ballot by mail is Friday, June 10, 2022 at 5:00pm.
The last day for absentee ballots to be returned by mail for the June Primary: Postmarked by June 21st, 2022.

Ballot Drop Off 

Ballots for this election can be dropped off by the voter at the General Registrars office during early voting hours. On Election Day Harrisonburg ballots can be dropped off at any of the Harrisonburg polling locations. 

 

*The Ballot can also be returned in person at the Registrar's office but only by the voter, or to your polling location on Election Day.

**Ballots must be returned to the locality from which they were mailed out.
