Parks and Recreation holds a variety of special events throughout the year. Use the following list to learn about each of these special events, past and upcoming!

Pop Ups in the Park - Join us this summer as we provide opportunities across Harrisonburg to connect with Parks and Recreation staff as well as engage in fun activities.

Saturday, June 11 from 12:00pm-3:00pm - Bring your bike out to Hillandale Park for a fun afternoon of obstacle courses, riding, and tune ups! We will make sure your tires are inflated, helmets fit, and seats are adjusted to help you make the most out of your bike and community trails this summer.
Thursday, June 16 from 4:00pm-6:00pm - Basketball and Futsal keep Ralph Sampson Park active all day. Join us as we run through drills, shooting competitions, crafts, and try out our portable disc golf baskets.
Wednesday, June 22 from 1:30pm-3:30pm at Purcell Park - Join Harrisonburg Public Works and Harrisonburg Parks and Recreation in building a pollinator hotel for your yard. We will also have information about pollinators and how to grow your own successful pollinator garden.
Sunday, July 10 from 12:30pm-2:30pm at A Dream Come True Playground - Just us for some games, crafts, and chalk masterpieces!
Tuesday, July 12 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Mosby Heights Neighborhood - We will play a few games, make some crafts, and throw some discs into our portable disc golf baskets!
Monday, August 1 from 1:00pm-3:00pm - Come on out to Kiwanis Park as we play some horse on the basketball court, tackle some football pads, and make crafts!
