City of Harrisonburg offices will be closed Thursday, January 1, 2026 in observance of the New Year's holiday. City offices will reopen Friday, January 2 at 8:00am. 

Refuse collection for Thursday, January 1, 2026 will occur on Friday, January 2. The Recycling Convenience Center and Mobile Unit will be closed Thursday, January 1.

The new sanitation schedule will take place on Monday, January 5, 2026. Please schedule all bulk and yard debris pickups online using ReCollect. 

Bus service: There will be no bus service on New Year's Day (January 1).

• Fireworks: The sale, use, or possession of fireworks is illegal in the City of Harrisonburg. Illegal fireworks will be confiscated. (City Code Section 16-6-57.)

Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance hosts the Annual Veterans Parade each year. The 2025 Veterans Parade will take place on Sunday, November 9 at 3:00pm. Visit their website information for more information.

Thanksgiving Day

City of Harrisonburg offices will be closed Thursday, November 27, 2025 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.

There will be no cardboard or leaf collection on Friday, November 28.
