Start Smart Basketball (Ages 3-4)
Registration opens on Tuesday, October 1. Program is open to City residents only, however if spots are not filled, Non-residents may register.
Start Smart Basketball is a developmentally appropriate introductory basketball program for children 3-4 years old. The program prepares children for organized basketball in a fun, non-threatening environment. Pairs work together to develop individual skills such as dribbling, ball handling, passing/catching, shooting, and running/agility. - Session 1: January 6-10 from 5:30pm-6:15pm
- Session 2: January 6-10 from 6:15pm-7:00pm
- The rate will be $30 ($60/Non-resident if spots are available). Registration fee includes participant equipment.

- Program will take place at the Community Activities Center.
U6 Youth Basketball League (Boys and Girls Ages 5-6)
Registration opens October 1 for the 2024/2025 season. League is open to City residents only. This introductory league will have a mix of practices to teach fundamentals, along with games. Participants will be placed on teams by the league administrator. Age specific rules and game format will apply.
- Program will run during the months of January-March.
- Registration rate is $30/player. Visit our Online Registration page to sign-up or visit the Athletics Office.
- Registration fee includes participant t-shirt.
- All activities will take place at the Community Activities Center.

- Practices will begin December 2 (program will not meet December 16-January 4).
- Practices will resume and games will begin starting January 6.

Summer Basketball League (Boys and Girls Ages 9-14)
Registration will open in April for the 2025 season. This indoor/outdoor summer league will begin with two weeks of practices only, then move into the final four weeks of games. Contact Steven.Hollister@harrisonburgva.gov or 540-433-9168 for additional details.
