The purpose of the meeting is to provide an orientation to the newly elected member of City Council and to review and discuss City government organization, policies and procedures, and applicable state and local law.
The Virginia Department of Health will hold a free COVID-19 testing event, by appointment only, on Friday, August 14, in Harrisonburg.
Free Covid-19 testing will take place at Harrisonburg High School, 1001 Garbers Church Road. Drivers should follow signage to the south side of the campus to enter the testing area.
Harrisonburg residents will be able to receive free COVID-19 masks on Tuesday, June 30, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the Waterman Square Shopping Center, at West Market Street and Waterman Drive.
A special emergency meeting of the City Council of the City of Harrisonburg is called by Mayor Deanna Reed to be held on June 18, 2020 at 5:00pm.
Testing will take place on Duke Drive at James Madison University. Drivers should take MLK Jr. Way to Paul Street to access Duke Drive.
Tests will take place Thursday, May 28, from 2:00pm-6:00pm at the parking lot of Faith Community Church, 1660 S. Main St., and EMU Commons, 1307 Park Road.
In accordance with the Emergency Ordinance to effectuate temporary changes in certain deadlines and to modify public meeting and public hearing practices and procedures to address continuity of operations associated with pandemic disaster, the public will not be able to physically attend the City Council Work Session.
The City of Harrisonburg will present potential changes to parking in the downtown area at two upcoming meetings, and resident feedback is needed.
