The new Toter system utilizes a Toter trash cart that attaches to a tipper plate, attached to each of the City's sanitation trucks, to lift the 96- or 48-gallon Toter trash carts provided by Public Works for use at each of the serviced addresses.
The Environmental Performance Standards Advisory Committee provides guidance and recommendations to City Council in the establishment of environmental performance standards for public development and redevelopment projects, and will encourage the private sector to meet these standards as well.
The Plan's overall goal is: "To present an easily communicable, comprehensive vision for the public streetscape in Downtown Harrisonburg that can be utilized by public and private agencies to further develop and sustain a vibrant downtown."
Public Works will hold a public meeting on April 6 at 320 East Mosby Road to get feedback about a future transfer station.
City offices will be closed the Friday after Christmas Day, however, refuse and recycling for Friday, December 26 will be on a normal schedule.
