The Harrisonburg Police Department, in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), participates in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Event.

This is a free service provided by law enforcement to local communities. Individuals can drop off any unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs for disposal.

Syringes, needles, liquids or any other dangerous materials will not be accepted. Please remove any personal identification from the medication bottles and boxes.

The Virginia State Police and the Drug Enforcement Agency will properly dispose of all medication collected.

The next event will be held on Saturday, April 27th, 2024 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Valley Mall (1925 East Market St.) in front of the Books-A-Million store.

HPD will be partnering with the Community Service Board to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of unwanted or expired prescription drugs

This national event happens twice per year, however, there are several drop off sites that are open year-round in the area: Sentara RMH, HPD's lobby (Public Safety Building), and most CVS's or Medicap.
