The City of Harrisonburg has created maps to identify the recommended routes for students to either bike or walk to and from school. Routes are determined based on current bike and pedestrian infrastructure (shared use path, sidewalk, bike lanes), connectivity through pedestrian signalized intersections, and road comfortability based on traffic. These routes take into consideration distance, terrain, and other potential safety concerns.

The Safe Routes to School Maps are to help guide those who are interested in biking, walking, or rolling to school.  The City of Harrisonburg assumes no liability arising from the use of these maps. Local authorities are not responsible for students while they travel to and from school.
