The Harrisonburg Department of Public Transportation (HDPT) does not take responsibility for the items lost on transit buses, school buses, and other revenue and non-revenue vehicles.  Passengers are urged to turn over recovered items to the vehicle driver. 

All items recovered by drivers are secured at the HDPT Office at:

475 East Washington St.
Harrisonburg, VA 22802

 

HDPT attempts to locate item owners, who can be identified from the recovered item.  All items are marked by the vehicle recovered from and date recovered.  Calls and emails are welcome to inquire about lost and found items. Calls can be made to the HDPT Dispatch Office Monday through Saturday 8:00am – 8:00pm at 540-432-0492. If the inquired item has not been recovered at the time of your call your contact information will be retained in case of later recovery.

  • Student IDs and dorm keys are returned to the respective schools on a weekly basis.
  • Debit/ATM and credit cards will be destroyed after 30 days.
  • Unidentifiable items will be retained for 30 days prior to disposal.
  • Cell phones and other electronic media will be recycled or disposed of after 30 days.
