HPD is honored to participate in the annual Special Olympics Torch Run showing support and partnership with area athletes.

Each summer the Flame of Hope is carried across the state culminating with lighting the cauldron to officially open the Special Olympics Virginia Summer Games in Richmond.

The 1,900-mile, 8-day Torch Run involves more than 2,000 law enforcement officers and personnel representing more than 200 law enforcement agencies across Virginia.

Local athletes join HPD officers, detectives, Rockingham County Sheriff's Office deputies and other runners in a 20-mile leg to Verona the first week of June.

2021 will be another exciting year and we wish all the athletes the best of luck!
